Yankees farm system ranking drops in latest The Athletic list


There is little doubt that the Yankees have impressive talent in their minor leagues.

But there are question marks over whether these students will hit their edge, and that’s what has taken them lower. Athleticism ranking of all agricultural systems in the majors.

The Yankees are ranked 22nd, up from 14th last year.

The crown jewel of this system is the shortstop Antoine Volpe, but there are more pitchers here than potential regulars on the positional player side. The Yankees have long been among the best at improving speed, but it looks like there’s a solid group of potential starter fourth types – don’t kid yourself, these guys are worth a lot of money – along the way, with a top group – Latin American bullish outlooks that were all in low A or below last year.

The Athletic listed three Yankees players – Volpe, shortstop Oswald Peraza and outfielder Jasson Dominguez – in their top 100 prospects.

Meanwhile, Baseball America last week ranked the Yankees 13th overall.
