Minister of State for Public Works Hnourable Umar Ibrahim El Yakub said that the Federal Ministry of Public Works has, based on the National Housing Policy 2016, managed to deliver about 2,665 houses out of the 5,900 to be built. Across the country.
El Yakub made the revelation in Kano on Saturday during a familiarization tour of homes built by the ministry at Jaba in Panisau, Fagge Local Government Area of the state.
According to the Minister, subscribers have started to move into the houses which are very impressive.
He said that there are three financing models among which outright financing, rent and ownership, and mortgage financing model.
The minister further said that National Housing is a well thought out scheme considering that it has been delivered in all 36 states of the federation and Abuja.
He said that the environment is something impressive and the infrastructure and services were indeed of good quality.
“This government has taken the housing program very seriously, not just in words but in action. Housing is a key aspect of life We all need a roof over our heads, what we need is not just a roof, but a decent, affordable and sustainable housing program like the one we have.
The minister said that the houses built so far are based on one, two, three bedroom apartments and you can see the culture has been incorporated into the design where a courtyard is in the design which makes it attractive.
“It’s my first time visiting the facility since becoming a minister and coincidentally it’s happening in my home state of Kano, I’m delighted to be here.”
